We tried starting preschool when A was 2 because he was so interested in learning letters and counting and his language was so advanced, however life got in the way and we decided in November to just chill until he was 3/4. But halfway through the summer, A told me that he "missed doing school" with me and wanted to do more "activities" again. I thoguht about telling him that we were going to start later and then realized that it didn't make any sense. The whole point of homeschooling is to meet my child where he is, give him more when he needs/asks for it, and not be restricted by time frames like summer vacation and fall semesters. As a homeschool family we can start school whenever we feel like it, even if that is apparently in the middle of May!

After looking at the many, many options, I landed on Blossom and Root. While he technically is ready for Early Years Year 2, we are going to start right from the beginning so he doesn't miss out on any of the fun and learning about artists and musicians. I don't feel stressed about "keeping him behind" because at 3.5 years old, he's already really ahead. Even doing Year 1 first, we will be starting Kindergarten before he is 5 more than likely since we plan on homeschooling year round.

Besides Blossom and Root we will be supplementing our days with How Wee Learn Summer Camp at Home for Littles. After looking at all, and I mean all, the homeschool preschool curriculums, they all take about 15-30 minutes a day to complete. I have noticed that with my child it is best to give him one on one, full and undivided attention for at least 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon for an ideal day. So we will be doing Blossom and Root in the mornings before outings, errands, or playing outside, and then Summer Camp at Home in the afternoons after lunch. I'm thinking that when we finish the Summer Camp we will move on to How Wee Learn Family Unit Studies for supplemental activities.

So, is our situation a little unconventional? Yeah, but I think all of homeschool is a little unconventional to be honest. I honestly don't know who is more excited to be starting on this new adventure: Me or A. Stay tuned for our first week update!
